personality

Doing his best to wear a smile, Yoichi is a polite, almost affable man. "Almost," because he isn't always good-natured and yet expressed his displeasure with the same smile. He was taught not to show his fears or insecurities due to his mixed heritage; any sign of weakness, and either a human or demon could make his life hell. He has low expectations of others, but can grow attached to things or people simply because he wasn't used to having those in his life, especially ones that will last. He's a lonely sort, quietly wanting a life of his own and an impossible wish.

Yoichi was born with what could be detected as demon blood, despite having completely normal, kind parents and living in a world where the mundane and supernatural parts are kept separate. The truth is that his family's bloodline was thought to be diluted into normalcy compared to their unsavory ancestry, so this was a rare occurrence. But he was raised pretty well, if not withdrawn with few friends. Not that it matters to paranoid family members who don't want a demon threatening their fortunes in a mostly normal world. Thus, his parents are killed and he almost was too, instead tossed into the underworld where his parents were supposed to abandon him but didn't. It's not a great place to be stuck in, but he managed to survive by acting as a surprisingly competent lesser demon (read: minion) to a more powerful, if not eccentric one. Then one day, he and his master were forcefully summoned to the human world and contracted as familiars for an odd business that doesn't care about those mystical traditions. Despite his bitter feelings about humans and the stable life he can't seem to have, he manages to find secretarial work under that contractor.
